Today was raining so heavily, and my friend was asking us out for dinner. We went to Tom Yum Tropika, a Thai restaurant nearby our university. My university lays in a very isolated area in Peninsular Malaysia. I would say that it’s the best restaurant around as I could eat and enjoy the food they prepare. I am not a cuisine explorer and I won’t do culinary traveling. I don’t eat cuttlefish, shell nor lame fish. I don’t eat some parts of beef and lamb. It’s not that I can’t, but I simply don’t prefer eating those. However, Tom Yum Tropika serves lots of chicken (Ayam) kind foods. They serve ayam masak merah, ayam masak kunyit, ayam masak kicap, ayam masak paprik, as well as tom yum ayam, soup ayam, telur (egg) dadar (scrambled), telur bistik, telur mata, telur bungkus, and more. I had this ‘Pad Ped Kai’ which is also a chicken product. It was so tasty! I like it a lot! And a telur bistik, scrambled egg with some beef chucks and tasty souce on top of it! It was just so yummy!

Anyway, this Tom Yum Tropika is not a fancy restaurant with a cool interior design. It’s a simple, small, cheap restaurant whose price just fits in student pocket! You can find lots of this kinda restaurant in Malaysia. Thai cuisine, Indian cuisine, and Chinese cuisine are not luxury cuisine to have. Well, of course you can have the luxury ones, in luxury and expensive restaurants. But what I’m trying to say is that, due to demographic and geographic condition of the country, they do have international cuisines served everywhere. Malaysia has plenty of Indian, Chinese, and Siamese whose food are available in every corner of the streets.
