Things are under control right now, at least since I did that very short unprepared presentation. But who could ever guess, I got into the prestigious exhibition in my university. It’s called EDX, short for Engineering Design Exhibition, done every semester for students to exhibit their piece of work. It was a relieved, after say a hard work, for almost a year! I’m happy! Yes I am. There’s one thing left for a sweet ending! I hope I’ll make it works! That’s why people said ‘Finish what you’ve started!’. When it’s done, it’s you who would stand with a grin!

Today was raining so heavily, and my friend was asking us out for dinner. We went to Tom Yum Tropika, a Thai restaurant nearby our university. My university lays in a very isolated area in Peninsular Malaysia. I would say that it’s the best restaurant around as I could eat and enjoy the food they prepare. I am not a cuisine explorer and I won’t do culinary traveling. I don’t eat cuttlefish, shell nor lame fish. I don’t eat some parts of beef and lamb. It’s not that I can’t, but I simply don’t prefer eating those. However, Tom Yum Tropika serves lots of chicken (Ayam) kind foods. They serve ayam masak merah, ayam masak kunyit, ayam masak kicap, ayam masak paprik, as well as tom yum ayam, soup ayam, telur (egg) dadar (scrambled), telur bistik, telur mata, telur bungkus, and more. I had this ‘Pad Ped Kai’ which is also a chicken product. It was so tasty! I like it a lot! And a telur bistik, scrambled egg with some beef chucks and tasty souce on top of it! It was just so yummy!

Anyway, this Tom Yum Tropika is not a fancy restaurant with a cool interior design. It’s a simple, small, cheap restaurant whose price just fits in student pocket! You can find lots of this kinda restaurant in Malaysia. Thai cuisine, Indian cuisine, and Chinese cuisine are not luxury cuisine to have. Well, of course you can have the luxury ones, in luxury and expensive restaurants. But what I’m trying to say is that, due to demographic and geographic condition of the country, they do have international cuisines served everywhere. Malaysia has plenty of Indian, Chinese, and Siamese whose food are available in every corner of the streets.

It is 4 in the morning and I’m still conscious. These past few days, I’ve been so busy doing my Final Year Project. Next week is gonna be the final draft submission. Well, I should be grateful that I finally managed to finish it (at least on main functionalities) while others are still striving to make their program works. Ok, let me first elaborate a little bit on my FYP.

Mobile Travel Guide for Tourism via SMS. Have you ever heard of similar products? This is a system that would act as a travel and tourism center with Kuala Lumpur as the simulated scope for the working prototype. Why SMS? Most of travel guide applications are based on GPS, but this application is not widely used especially in developing countries as GPS enabled devices are quoted as luxury device. To meet everyone’s needs, the system is built under SMS protocol. What does the system do? The programs reside at the server and clients invoke remote services by sending SMS with a fixed format. There are several services provided, such as directions from one place to another and how to get there as well as informations of traveling related places (hotels, landmarks, restaurants, etc).

That’s about my final year project. I do appreciate any comments on how you assess the need of the system. I would address the objective to be implemented in non-English speaking countries for highest satisfaction. The system is customizable in any language of preference (however, the prototype is in English).

Arriving at some online resume web made me think of creating this blog. I didn’t think of the impact and importance of an online biography actually, but then I started to realize how this online world has made our life easier! As a fresh grad to be, I started to apply for jobs by sending resumes. Emails have made my effort of job application a lot easier! Can you imagine how tedious it is to send resumes by mails, how long, and how expensive it would be? I adore whoever that developed email! Email was started in 1965 as a way for multiple users of a time sharing mainframe computer to communicate (Wikipedia). Online job application is a lot helpful. Through this online blogging, I could further expose myself, my thoughts, my opinions, and without disregarding mass interests, I could shout my objections and complaints. Anyhow, there’s always a good in every approach, I could also share my interest and my values.

IT provides solutions! Yes, we do think a lot on process automation. When things were done manually, it was costly and time consuming. The world goes online! You buy online, send online, talk online, and work online, all online! Now, the world is going mobile! Innovations are made to leverage human life. So, why don’t we make the best out of it?
